Ranger groups

Junior and Senior Ranger drone program

Training that builds ranger drone skills on your own Country, and drone and AI services that put ranger knowledge in charge of the results.

Training

Two pathways, one goal: rangers flying for Country

Junior rangers

Junior rangers follow the same Drone Class pathway as schools, from first flight to careers:

  • 101 First Flight · 102 Safe Flight
  • 201 Drone Imaging · 301 Mapping
  • 401 AI & Data · 501 Careers

At 501, participants aged 16+ complete their own CASA operator accreditation. See the levels.

Senior rangers

Ranger Drone Training: three levels delivered on your Country, using the DJI Matrice 4T enterprise drone for real ranger tasks.

  • Mission planning, safe operations and flight logs
  • Survey, mapping, thermal and wildlife flights
  • Checking and using the data, with AI as a helper

It prepares rangers for CASA operator accreditation and for a Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) from an approved training provider.

Good to know. AI First Nations runs training as guided engagement under its CASA ReOC. It is not a CASA licence. Rangers who will fly for work still need CASA's own steps: an ARN, operator accreditation and, for larger drones and most professional jobs, a RePL from an approved provider. We help rangers get there.

Services for ranger groups

Drone and AI work, with rangers in charge

Surveys and mapping

Planned mapping flights turned into measurable maps (orthomosaics) and 3D models of your sites.

Weeds and pond apple

Finding and measuring infestations, planning treatment and checking the results. Over 1,170 pond apple trees treated with Goondoi.

Wetlands

Repeat surveys of wetlands and creeks, flown the same way each time so maps can be compared.

Mangroves

Mangrove mapping and species identification, using the mangrove AI built with RMIT University.

Feral animal and wildlife detection

Thermal (infrared) drone surveys, day and night, to find and count feral pigs, buffalo, wild horses, deer, kangaroos and crocodiles, for feral animal control, wetland protection and crocodile safety.

Night operations are flown under CASA approval.

AI with ranger checks

AI sorts thousands of images quickly. Every result is marked AI-generated until a ranger checks it.

Where we work. Far North Queensland, the Torres Strait and the Northern Territory, and Sydney's Northern Beaches, where we fly shark monitoring for Surf Life Saving NSW with KJR.

Your data

What we collect on your Country is yours

  • Traditional Owners own the data, maps and AI results from their Country.
  • Cultural sites stay off shared maps and reports.
  • Your group gets its own private data portal.
